On 26 November 2011, a grand opening ceremony was held in Zijinshan National Mining Park which is one of first lot of 28 National Mining Parks in China. Jiang Chengsong, the former vice minister of Ministry of Land and Resourceof PRC; Guan Fengjun, head of geological environment department; Li Jihong, director of geological environment department; Zeng Shaojin, former head of development department; Zhong Weizhi, former head of geological exploration department; Wang Donghai, chief editor of China Mining News; He Nanfei, deputy director of Department of Land and Resources of Fujian Province; He Yongjin, director of geological environment department, Wen Xihao, deputy mayor of Longyan City; Chen Peigui, deputy secretary general of Longyan government; Su Zhikun, deputy director of Land and Resource Bureau in Longyan city; Xu Jianguo, director of Longyan City Tourism Administration; Chen Jinhe, chairman of Zijin Mining Group, and Luo Yinnan, president of Zijin Mining Group.etc attended the opening ceremony.
On the opening ceremony presided over vice County mayor Chen Xueliang, Guan Fengjun read out the approval document issued by Ministry of Land and Resources of PRC, and granted the medal to Zijinshan Natioanl Mining Park on behalf of Ministry of Land and Resources of PRC.
During the welcome speech, Wen Xihao said that Zijinshan not only owns huge gold and copper mineral resources, but also has abundant history and cultural resources. Since the early 1990s, successful explorations have been made and great potentials have been discovered in Zijinshan by Zijin Mining Group. During the economic development, Zijin Mining Group also pays great attentions to environmental protection. Zijinshan National Mining Park is one of first batch of 28 National Mining Parks. On the review conference of first batch of 28 National Mining Parks held by Ministry of Land and Resource in Beijing in 2005, Zijinshan Mining Park ranked 7th with average score of 85.61. This newly built Zijinshan National Mining Park not only reflects the goal of “coordinated development between human and society”, and but also achieves the win-win situation in economic development and environmental protection.
Chairman of Zijin Mining Group Chen Jinhe said that in 1980s, significant breakthrough has been made during geological exploration in Zijinshan organized by Fujian Provincial Bureau of Geological Exploration. Zijinshan gold and copper mine which is a med-size gold mine and large-scale copper mine, is a typical porphyry deposit where the upper is gold orebody and the lower is copper orebody. After the exploration by Zijin Mining, large-scale prospecting work was launched and low-grade gold and copper mineral resources were fully utilized relying on technological improvement. Nowadays, Zijinshan is the largest gold mine in China with lowest grade of ore feed, highest economic benefit and largest mining and beneficiation scale. The process of mine development equals to the process of rebuilding the environment in mine. The establishment of Zijinshan National Mining Park would set higher and stricter standards in rebuilding environment in mine, and record the development history and cultural spirits of ZIjin Mining Group. Chen Jinhe also pointed out that Zijin Mining Group would continue to insist the development concept of “managing, protecting and constructing while developing”, and constantly improve the construction of industrial-ecological tourism projects to realize the coordinated development of society, economy and environmental protection.
With total planned area of 35 Km2, Zijinshan National Mining Park is basically divided into 7 sections: sightseeing district, production and management district, recreation area, leisure area, ecological sightseeing and camping area, reception area and administration area; It is also divided into three construction phases which are “early stage (Phase I: 2005-2008),”mid-stage (Phase II: 2009-2012)”and “long-term stage (Phase III: 2013-2020)”, and estimated to be completed in 2020. Currently, the park has completed the construction of Main Monument and Vice Monument of Zijinshan Mining Park, Zijin Geology and Mineral Museum, Identification System, Guiding Brochure, Website of Mining Park, Tourist Service Centre and other supporting facilities. In addition, in order to intensify the construction of Zijinshan National Mining Park and improve the tourism projects, Huyangken Reclaimed Leisure Entertainment Area, Jinshan Lake Leisure Resort, Zijinshan Botanic Garden and China’s first gold course built in mine will be put into construction during the phase II construction.
